Graphsy in Action

UPDATE: Graphsy is now accepting users: www.graphsy.com

Here it is, the very first screencast of Graphsy.  In this video I’m demoing some of the basic graph drawing functionality of Graphsy.  You’ll see lines, nodes, and anchors.  The key here is to demonstrate the interface.  The front end is all Javascript and HTML while the back end is Ruby on Rails and ImageMagick. This is my first screencast so it’s not perfect, but I think it’s fine for what it is.  Hope you like it.  Let me know in the comments what you think.

Basic Graph Drawing

UPDATE: Check out a small video demo of Graphsy here.

Basic shapes connected by two lines

As was promised, here are some of the first screen caps of Graphsy.  Right now it has the very basic of graph drawing functionality, and no way to save anything.  What you see here is the majority of what Graphsy can do now.  Users can draw boxes, ellipses, and edges.  The boxes and ellipses can have text.  The edges are simple lines and not attached to the nodes.  On the front end everything is Javascript, while on the back end it is Ruby on Rails with ImageMagick to do the rendering.  It was a real pain to configure ImageMagick to work, but it does now. More screen shots after the break.

Blog Launches

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008 by trool

Hi everyone. This is the start of Graphsy.  You don’t know me yet, but I’ll introduce myself later, first this blog.  Here you’ll find all sorts of info on the project.  Things like new features, updates, and status will be announced.  Also I’ll post anything else I feel is fun or interesting.  Maybe just vent frustrations and such.  No idea where this is going to go yet.  I’ll try to post here a few times a week, maybe more depending if anyone is actually reading.  Next time I’ll introduce you to Graphsy and what I hope it will become.  I’m planning on launching a private alpha sometime in June, hopefully very soon.  Keep checking back or just grab the RSS feed to follow, I’ll be updating with pictures and video walkthroughs.  Post back if you got something to say.  Have fun. I’ll write some more soon, I promise.
